The Unit Titles Bill will bring existing legislation up-to-date and clarify the rights and responsibilities for both unit title owners and bodies corporate. Current legislation dates back to 1972 and no longer meets the requirements of modern apartment ownership, Mr Jones said. "The changes proposed will bring the legislation into the 21st century. The Unit Titles Act has not been reviewed since the 1970s and this has created a range of problems for people in unit title developments," he said. Welcome to the inaugural issue of ecoNet? a weekly electronic information and up-coming events diary. Activities and information about the environment and sustainability will updated and published each Friday. Local plans, policies or strategies relating to the environment and sustainability issues open for public consultation will be listed and there will be links to other sites or information of interest. Since the Christchurch Environment Centre's weekly ECOWEB stopped arriving in our in-boxes a few years ago, many people have commented on the hole it left. Without it, it has been harder to know about events, activities and consultations relating to the environment and sustainability, and there has been no 'one-stop' shop for community groups and individuals to advertise their events. The NZ Association for Environmental Education, Christchurch Branch, (NZAEE) is now sponsoring ecoNet and hopes it will go some way towards filling these needs. Who are we? NZAEE is a non-profit, national organisation of people working to promote and support environmental education, lifelong learning and sustainable behaviour throughout New Zealand/Aotearoa. Using ecoNet It's easy. Just send in to the editor the information about an event, activity or consultation you want to share and it will go in the next ecoNet. The list is hosted by a friend of mine, Les Squires, for free. Due to technical issues, we need to update our list and move the hosting elsewhere. We have now an opportunity to adapt our list and to further develop our platform. I'd like to open a discussion here and like to call on your input as to how to continue CEN! There are different options: - move the whole discussion list to Google and open a Google Group - create a social networking site, similar to this one: http://nztransitiontowns.ning.com There might be more options and ideas. Please let me know. Maybe there is someone who like to step forward and continue with the running (and hosting) of the CEN mailing list? Best regards, Christoph -- Skype me at: cmhensch http://cocreate26.blogspot.com
